Last week’s sleeper candidate WR Sidney Rice had a great game (10 REC-136 YDS), and RB Jamal Lewis (15 ATT-47 YDS) and WR Percy Harvin (3 REC-42 YDS) had disappointing games as my busts picks.
This week there are two new options that Fantasy owners must either avoid or start in Week 8. Who are they?
Sleepers
of the Week:
Tony
Scheffler- TE Broncos:
In Week Six, Scheffler had six receptions for 101 yards
and a touchdown. Over the last two weeks, Scheffler has 10 receptions for 146
yards and a touchdown.
The Denver Broncos will travel to Baltimore in Week
Eight. The Ravens rank 18th against the pass and have surrendered
nine touchdowns through the air. Quarterbacks are averaging a rating of 89.1, so look for Scheffler to be one of QB
Kyle Orton’s favorite targets on Sunday.
Torry
Holt- WR Jaguars:
Holt has been on a roll the last few weeks. Last week,
he had five receptions for 101 yards. Over the last two games, he has 12
receptions for 196 yards.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are traveling to Tennessee.
The Titans rank 32nd against the pass and have surrendered a league-worst 19 touchdowns through the air. With attention devoted to WR Mike Sims-Walker, look for Holt to
find the end zone this Sunday.
Busts
of the Week:
Frank
Gore- RB 49ers:
He came back from injury and had a subpar game against
the Houston Texans. Unfortunately, he stymied last week and only rushed for 32
yards on 13 carries.
The San Francisco 49ers will travel to Indianapolis in
Week Eight. The Colts have only given up four rushing touchdowns all year and
have been blowing out their competition.
Mario
Manningham- WR Giants:
Manningham has struggled with drops and has seen his
Fantasy numbers suffer. Over the last four games, he has a combined 10 receptions for 176 yards and two touchdowns. The numbers are deceiving and with
the emergence of WR Hakeem Nicks, his role in the offense will diminish.
The New York Giants will travel to Philadelphia.
Manningham is listed as questionable and is a high-risk due to his shoulder
injury he suffered in practice on Thursday; With Philadelphia’s sixth
best passing defense, do not start Manningham.
